As Buttercross enters it’s 18th year, we have been reflecting on the way our business has changed over time. The most prominent aspect of this has certainly been the rapidly growing restaurant supply element of our butchery, and the turn of the year will be a time to restructure Buttercross Farm Foods to focus on this.
The past 10 years has seen many changes in the butchery business, but one very noticeable difference has been the decline in use of our farm shop. This is a trend that has been largely replicated across the country, with the tightening of the nation’s purse strings and the influx of butchery products available on supermarket shelves being significant catalysts for this. The re-branding of our shop to the ‘Butcher’s Hook’ certainly arrested the decline in our sales, however it has become apparent that it is no longer financially viable to offer the level of retail service that we feel our loyal customers deserve. With this in mind, the ‘Butcher’s Hook’ farm shop will close permanently on Saturday 30th 2017. This will mean that Buttercross Farm Foods will be entirely closed to the public. It has been a hard decision for us to make, but a decision that will allow us to focus our attentions on creating and supplying high end butchery products to the best chefs in the region. You’ll certainly still be seeing lots of fantastic Buttercross produce on our stockist’s shelves and many restaurant menus across the region.
We understand that this is a short notice announcement and know that plenty of our customers may still have ‘porky points’ that need to be redeemed. We have provision for you to make the most of these points and will be sending out an email to all ‘Porky Points’ customers with details on how this can be done.
We would like to thank every one of our loyal customers who have frequented our shop over the years. We truly appreciate your support and understand the disappointment of losing the shop. If you have any queries or would like a more detailed explanation of the reasons behind the shop closure, please get in touch with us by emailing info@buttercross.com, we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
Many thanks,
The Buttercross Team
